XJ-S first came on the market in 1976 powered by 5.3 litre V8 engine. Buyers had the choice of either manual or automatic. In the TV Series " Return of the Saint" Simon Templar drove a Jag XJ-S in that series. 1991 saw the named brand of XJ-S changed to XJS ceased in 1998
