Hawker Hurricane Mk IV Photograph

In 1939 a Hurricane Fighter plane became the first RAF plane to shot down a Luftwaffe Dornier Do-17 airplane. In the Battle of Britain, glory went to the Spitfire plane, but overall it was the Hurricane that that played the dominant role as a fighter plane in the Battle of Britain war.
